Priority Allocated for Accredited Employer Work Visa [AEWV]

Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has confirmed that processing of AEWV applications remains to be a top priority. To counter it effectively, INZ would monitor if majority applications submitted belongs to the same sector or same locations. If any of such case applies, those applications will then be transferred to a specific team who will prioritize accordingly.

Having said that such group of applications would be reviewed on weekly basis and other applications will continue to be assessed by teams in order from oldest to newest.

Looking at the current scenario where employer accreditations take a minimum of 11 weeks, following by Job Checks which takes 12 weeks, and AEWV applications which currently takes a total of 4 months. To add more to it, the above timeframes are only applicable to only 80% of the submitted applications which means that the timeframes are only indicative but in reality, the processing may take longer time to finalize everything.

The following types of visa services would be prioritized:
  • Employer Accreditation Applications where the employer accreditations are expiring within 6 weeks
  • Job Check Applications for ANZSCO Skill Level 1 roles
  • Job Check Applications for ANZSCO Skill Level 2 hospitality roles.
  • In case of employer accreditations set to expire before 30 November 2024, those Job Check applications will also be prioritized.
  • AEWV applications where employer accreditation is set to expire before end of October
  • AEWV applicants in New Zealand who currently hold an interim visa with no work rights and that they are moving off a visa in the event of holding open work rights

However, INZ lays a scope on one term which is ‘decision-ready applications’ in prioritizing AEWV applications. This means that only those applications will be prioritized where all the required quality documents are submitted with the AEWV applications. This enables INZ to make quicker decisions.
